President Muhammadu Buhari says the postponement of elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will be investigated by the Federal Government after the polls.
The President who was addressing the opening ceremony of the National Caucus meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) described the postponement as “act of incompetence”. The decision to probe the postponement was the President’s response to calls by the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole that he should trigger the provisions of the law including the constitution to hold officials responsible for the last minute shift of the polls. There have been rumours about plot to sack the INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmud Yakubu.
Meanwhile, President Buhari also directed security agencies to shoot-at-sight anybody snatching ballot boxes during Saturday’s rescheduled Presidential and National Assembly Election. In his words, anybody snatching ballot boxes “will be doing so at the risk of his life”.
