FORMER KANO EMIR SANUSI II ASSUMES NEW APPOINTMENTS

The dethroned Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II has taken up his new appointments as Vice Chairman of the Board of Kaduna Investment Promotion Agency, KADIPA statutorily chaired by the State Deputy Governor and that of Chancellor of the Kaduna State University, KASU.

KADIPA which is the one-stop investment shop in Kaduna State is already organising the 5th Kaduna Economic and Investment Summit to hold on September 21 and 22, 2020. This year’s summit will be addressed by the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr. Akinwumi Adesina and the Chairperson of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council (EAC) among others.

Sanusi on Sunday made his first public appearance since securing a court order to upturn his banishment to Nasarawa State after his dethronment by the Kano State Government.

Sanusi received a heroic welcome to Kaduna State where he visited the Government House to meet Governor Nasiru El-Rufai who was the last top public official to visit him in Nasarawa State before he moved to join his family in Lagos State.

Tweets on the official Twitter handle of the Office of the Governor of Kaduna State say “Malam Nasir @elrufai has welcomed HRH Muhammadu Sanusi II, and thanked him for making Kaduna the first place he is visiting since relocating to Lagos in March”.

“HRH Sanusi told Malam Nasir @elrufai that he is grateful to have in him a friend he can always count on. He thanked the governor for standing by him and assured that he will do his best as Vice Chairman of @InvestKaduna and Chancellor of the Kaduna State University, KASU”.

It would be recalled that the two appointments were announced by the Kaduna State Government barely 24 hours after Sanusi was dethroned as Emir and banished to Nasarawa State.

The former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Muhammadu Sanusi II who became the 14th Emir of Kano on June 8, 2014 was dethroned on March 9, 2020 for alleged “insubordination” after about 3 years of strange relations with Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.
