An aircraft in the Presidential Air Fleet has conveyed Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje to and from Edo State for the campaign of the Governorship candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
Ganduje who is the Chairman of the APC National Campaign Council for the Edo Governorship Election was received on arrival at the Benin City Airport by mostly loyalists from his State including some members of the National Assembly.
The Kano Governor and his predecessor, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau visited the Arewa community in Benin City to canvass votes for Ize-Iyamu and his running mate Gani Audu who were presented to the people as the right men for the job.
Ganduje’s campaign visit came after that of another former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso who was also in Edo State over the weekend to support the Governorship candidate of his party, Governor Godwin Obaseki who is seeking re-election for second term.
It is not clear who gave the approval for the use of the Presidential Aircraft by Governor Ganduje for the campaign but it will be recalled that he recently met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa along with the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma and their party’s National Caretaker Committee Chairman, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State. It appears the use of the Presidential Aircraft was one of the requests on the list made to the President during the visit.
MediaDimensions gathered that while Ganduje met with the Hausa-Fulani community in Edo State during his campaign visit, his Imo State counterpart, Senator Uzodinma was meeting with the Igbo community in the State to also woo support for Ize-Iyamu ahead of Saturday’s election.
