Barely a week after he was appointed Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Reconciliation Committee, former Senate President Bukola Saraki has hit the ground running with the national assignment. Many say that the assignment requires some urgency and is crucial to save the leading opposition party from itself.
Saraki on Monday evening took to the social media to announce his “productive meeting” with the estranged PDP Governors of Rivers, Nyesom Wike and that of Cross River, Ben Ayade. The no love lost between the two Governors was on public display in the primaries to elect the party’s candidate for the December 5 Cross River North Senatorial Bye-Election with both men supporting different candidates against each other.
Governor Wike has also always accused his Cross River State counterpart of anti-party activities including plans to defect from PDP to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC especially after sim of Ebonyi Governor Dave Umahi.
Below is the tweet by Senator Saraki:
“As part of our work with the @OfficialPDPNig Reconciliation Committee which entails bringing everyone together to air out their concerns, this evening, I had a productive meeting with my friends and brothers, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers and Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River”.
