Nigerian troops killed over 30 members of Boko Haram during Sunday’s siege by the terrorists on Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.
Independent journalist, Ahmad Salkida tweets that among those killed is “a commander” of the terrorist group.
Meanwhile, residents of Damaturu allege that Boko Haram reportedly in control of three local government areas in neighbouring Borno State now has “an operating base close to Termuwa” on the Gashua-Damuturu axis from where three attempts were made on the city in the last two months.
Reports also say the terrorists, Monday evening engaged in fierce gunshots in Biu, Borno state. Biu is the headquarters of Biu Local Government Area where the current Chief of Army Staff, General Yusuf Burutai hails from in the North-East.
MediaDimensions confirmed that Nigerian troops have “successfully pushed back #ISWAP fighters that came from the Buniyadi/Miringa axis of Biu. Most of the soldiers returned to their barracks with victory songs. The town is calm now. A big thank you to those sacrificing everything for peace”
